A new system called semantic decoder is developed by researchers at the University of Texas in Austin which is able to reveal individual’s brain activity when he is listening to a story or imagining it. In fact, the brain’s neural signals are recorded then translated into a continuous stream of text by a fMRI scanner. Moreover, it does not require surgical implants. Although this AI system is currently in laboratory scale and needs to be evaluated many times, it has great potential to be further developed in the future.
